My definition of a hoe . . . is not actually a solid definition. I mean there are certain characteristics that I find to be eh hoe-ish, but that is kind of as far as it goes. I've never been one to just call someone a hoe. Could be because I have no knowledge of what it is nor have I come up with a personal way of giving it definition. I've heard girls call other girls this in many different aspects; a girl who has sex with multiple people, a female (like how some loosely use the term bitch), and even in a "friendly" manner (ie. "Hey hoe!" Which I do not understand at all). I've heard guys use it as well with the same references minus the latter. It isn't cute at all, but what does it mean?
I remember in college (as if it were so long ago) a "sister" of mine telling a group of us a few things in terms of sex and her relationship during a discussion. And I thought well damn, that's a hoe move. Regardless of how much I love and respected her in many other ways and aspects, it was a hoe move to me. I told her that was just my opinion, I'm not judging her, nor am I trying to down play her in anyway. What matters is what you think and how you feel about yourself.

I also recall us going further into the conversation with focus shifting to females on our campus. It was brought up that a well-known female on campus was a hoe. I'd heard stories about this girl, did not really know her aside from a name, face, and a few hellos and goodbyes. However, all the stories preceded those interactions with her. But the person who brought this "hoe" up has just told us not too long ago she had done similar things, although not all this other girl has supposedly done. So is she labeled a hoe, because she isn't you? A sin is still a sin, although committed differently right? I'm not understating.
I talked to a male friend from back home about males and females both being able to be called hoes and that I am not one for double standards. I wanted a male's perspective. He agreed that men and women can both be deemed hoes, but it is expected of a boy to sleep around and a surprise/shock if a girl does it. So let me get this straight, because you are surprised or shocked at her actions she gets slapped with the label hoe? No. How is it okay for a dude to sleep with tons of girls or even sleep with this girl and her bestfriend after and that is simply “a guy being a guy”, but if a chick does it she's loose, nasty, a hoe and every other negative and derogatory term out there. Well damn, slap a red A across her chest.
Let's start conversations:
1. What is your definition of a hoe/whore/skank whatever?
2. What makes a hoe, a hoe? Is it because of something you do not agree with or will never do yourself?
3. Can you (not YOU personally) come back from being a hoe?
4. Can you turn a hoe into a housewife/husband?
5. What is your opinion on how the term is used in today's culture?
