A huge congrats to Ballerina Misty Copeland for landing the lead role in Washington Ballet's production of "Swan Lake". Misty Copeland became the first African American to perform a lead of Odette, in United States History.  

Copeland casted was deemed as "long overdue" and resulted in "broken barriers", according to The New York Times. 

In 2015, Copeland also earned her place on Time Magazine's 100.  Misty Copeland is a pioneer. 

As weekend two of Coachella approaches, people are still trying to figure out a way to get to the event or where to stay. For those not attending, they are wishing one day to afford access or for the prices to magically decrease. For those who are too cheap or too broke look no further Brokechella is here.

Brokechella has been around since 2011 in Downtown, Los Angeles after it was realized that the event fell on the same weekend as Coachella. It started out as a popular event called Community Pool, where bands, comedians and a variety of acts would come together to share their talents with fellow Los Angeles artists. The event grew more popular over the years, consistently outgrowing its venues. It started out at a coffee house in Venice, moved to a black box theater in Westwood, then a multi-story club Downtown, and finally to a huge warehouse space in Downtown LA.

This year, Brokechella will be located at 590 Santa Fe Ave, in the heart of Downtown. There will be four stages, a World Initiative, comedy and variety stage, a bigger than ever vendor fair, more puppychella, giant jenga puzzles, and so much more.

A new uplifting, inspiring and amusing new docu-series “The Prancing Elites Project” will be premiering Wednesday, April 22 at 10 PM ET/PT on the Oxygen Network. The Prancing Elites are an African American, gay and non-gender conforming dance team straight out of Mobile, Alabama.

The team is made up of five best friends Adrian Clemons, Kentrell Collins, Kareem Davis, Jerel Maddox, and Timothy Smith. The series digs into their personal lives as they fight to be accepted in the female dominated dance culture of J-Setting. They are challenging societal norms while overcoming several obstacles with passion and humor on their journey to be their authentic selves. 

Currently the group is excluded from competitions and banned from participating in several hometown and national parades. The Prancing Elites fight to showcase their talent by dancing in the stands at college football games and even performing on a boat cruise. Despite all of the hurdles they must face - professional rejections, family disapproval and tensions, personal health crises and heartbreak - the group won’t let anything stand in their way as they continue to uplift one another and band together in the face of adversity.
