As of late, TV and movie content has somewhat been getting better. The rise of more relatable and black characters definitely has me eyeing pilots and trailers. Although these are not "black" films, here are a few movies that I think are definitely worth seeing.

Almost four years after her death, the brilliantly raw singer Amy Winehouse is being reborn in the documentary Amy. The two-hour documentary follows her artistic and personal journey, from toxic relationships to substance abuse and living in the public eye.
From the trailer this seems like it'll be a tough one. From the trailer it seems fans will be able to enjoy rare home videos of the 27-year-old before she died in 2011. It will definitely bring tears to see Amy's rise to stardom and sudden death. The documentary, directed by British filmmaker Asif Kapaida, will be in theaters this July.

Marvel has an eye on filmmaker Ava DuVernay to direct one of its diverse superhero movies like Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman or Captain Marvel, both set to hit theaters in 2018. DuVernay’s acceptance of the job would make her Marvel’s first African-American and first female director, which would be epic for the company. DuVernay has some experience with comic book movies as she did PR work for Sam Raimi‘s “Spider-Man 2." That cunts enough for me! WRITTEN BY: VIOLA CONSTANCE | @Voila_its_Viola

If you are a followers of Sundance Festivals, Indie Films, and or black films in general you've come across Dope. Dope, produced by Forest Whitaker and directed by Rick Famuyiwa, is an inspirational tale of high school geek Malcolm's (played by A$AP Rocky) journey through The Bottoms, one of the toughest neighborhoods in Inglewood, Calif.
Malcolm and his crew of outcasts share a great appreciation for all things '90s -from attire, hip-hop and more. There is the daily fight for survival in the hood and self-acceptance after a drug dealer takes a liking to Malcolm. The film was included in the 2014 Sundance Film Festival line-up just last year and finally (I feel as though I've been waiting forever) it will be out in theaters June 19!
