Janelle Monáe never seems to disappoint. From fashion to music she defies the "norm" and stays true to herself. If she hasn't already received enough love she definitely has been and will be receiving more after her amazing performance on NBC’sToday.
Monáe performed "Yoga," "Tightrope," and “Hell You Talmabout.”

Closing her performance, with the protest song for the Black Lives Matter Movement "Hell You Talmbout," Monàe openly spoke about tragic police brutality issues in America. her speech was not some publicity stunt, but a testament and outcry of recent cases of racial profiling, police shootings and the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
She told the crowd:
She told the crowd:
Yes Lord! God bless America! God bless all the lost lives to police brutality. We want white America to know that we stand tall today. We want black America to know we stand tall today. We will not be silenced...

Then she, in a way, was silenced for a break. Even with footage like this, arguments erupted. There is the back and forth of broadcast timing and the fact that Monáe was talking about police brutality. I get both sides as an individual who has studied journalism. However, it is crazy that for other entertainment purposes like award shows or sporting events broadcast companies are able and willing to go over time, but for this performance it was a must that they break on time.
If you still aren't convinced that Janelle Monáe was censored, why is it that all interviews and segments of her musical performances are on the show's website, but the "Hell You Talmbout" act was nowhere to be found. The facts and evidence is out there, do your own research and let us at 2BlkGrls know what you think.

2BlkGrls would like to commend Janelle Monáe on using her voice and the platforms that she has access to to speak out and shed light on the injustices that we all are currently facing. We would like to thank you for truly being an example for us all.
