After the protests and riots that swept through Baltimore and in the rest of the country, six officers have been formally charged in the death of Freddie Gray.
On April 12th, Gray, just 25 years old, severed his spine after he was placed into a police van during his arrest. Gray was placed on the floor of a police van without a seatbelt and with his hands and legs in restraints. After receiving no medical attention, Gray went into a coma and died a week later.
Here are the charges against the officers and the maximum penalty each charge carries: Second-degree depraved-heart murder (30 years), Involuntary manslaughter (10 years), Assault/second degree (10 years), Manslaughter by vehicle, gross negligence (10 years), Manslaughter by vehicle, criminal negligence (three years), Misconduct in office, False imprisonment
