Today I was in a meeting with peers in a professional education setting. We were discussing a topic on the income of teachers versus affording the cost of living. Pretty serious conversations if you ask me. A peer in my group held up his hand and said "honey". He then proceeded to make a point contrary to my opinion. Of course he did this to no other men in the room. I just wanted to scream don't call me any "pet names" honey, sweetie, sweetheart, or anything else, it's belittling and really just plays into gender stereotype norms. Not to mention you don't know me and in 2015 this could be considered sexual harassment! Is anyone calling you something you don't like in the work place.
